Trip to East Malaysia - Day 5 : KK, Sabah --> KL

Last day at Sabah!!!

This was the only day we didn't have to get up at 6.

We woke at 9, then walked for breakfast.

We finally got to try Sabah's 生肉面.

So, there goes the 5D4N of Sabah trip!!!

The next time I get the the chance to visit, I would really like to go to Sipadan.

P.S. This whole 5D4N trip, costs around RM 500 for food, transport, water games, hotel and souvenirs. Bought the plane tix when Air Asia had promotions. RM 120 from KL to Miri, Sarawak to KK, Sabah and back to KL.

Trip to East Malaysia - Day 4: Kundasang - Poring Hot Spring, Desa Cow Farm

Early in the morning, we departed for Kundasang.

The Uncle came at 8am to fetch us. This whole day cost RM 90, inclusive of transport, lunch and the hot spring entrance fee.
The trip took 3 hours from KK to Kundasang.
On the way there, we stopped by at a shop for the famous Tuaran Mee and pumpkin pau at 瑾瑞兴茶餐室.
Tuaran is a small town located in the northwest of Sabah. Tuaran Mee is famous in Sabah. It is served with some vegetables, fishcake, egg and char siew.

After breakfast, we headed to the flea market. There, they sell the "Crystal Pineapple". I bought a packet and shared with dar. It was super sweet and juicy.

I normally add some salt when I eat pineapple to make it sweeter but for this, it taste very sweet without adding anything. The best thing is, it doesn't hurt the tongue, and it is super cheap there.

I've tried Crystal Pineapple back in KL. A plate cost about RM 15, but there, one whole pineapple cost RM 4 only!! But then, I couldn't bring it back due to overweight luggage =(

After the flea market, we headed for lunch at a restaurant.

This restaurant was right opposite the Poring Hot Spring. After lunch, we walked over to the hot spring.

Poring Hot Spring is one of Sabah's most famous hot water spring. It is located at the foot hills of Mount Kinabalu, near Ranau area. There, they have the canopy walkway, orchid farm, sulphur bath, and waterfall. We only made it for the hot sulphur bath as it was raining heavily, and we were in a rush.

A standard room cost RM 15. It can fit around 4-6 people.
A deluxe room has Jacuzzi, which fits 3 only.

Outdoor pools. This is for free, but it doesn't feel like a hot spring.
The water flow is slow, and the water is cold.

We had an indoor standard room as the deluxe ones were full.

After the hot spring, we spent another hour ride to Desa Cow Farm. It was really cold and windy up there. The scenery was amazing!!

After finishing to cow farm, it was almost 5 pm. We went back down the hill and stopped by Kinabalu Park and Rumah Terbalik.

The entrance fee for Rumah Terbalik was RM 10. The uncle said it wasn't worth it cos there wasn't much to see and we couldn't take any pictures inside. Instead, we just took some pictures outside the house and headed for seafood dinner.

When we got back to KK, it was already 9pm. We went for dinner at 大笳来, somewhere near our hotel.

Food food food and FOOD!! Seafood there is shhhoooo cheap!! We ate that much, and it's only around RM 20 each~

After dinner, we walked back to out hotel. It was really an exhausting day. Sitting in the car for the whole day. The roads were curvy and bumpy, and it made everyone felt sick.

This was the last night at Sabah. Felt happy and sad at the same time. This was the trip that we all had been planning a year ahead. Was happy that we finally got to have fun together, and sad cause everything ended so soon..

Sabah is such a beautiful place!! Hope to visit some other time, and visit some other island...

Trip to East Malaysia - Day 3 : Manukan Island, One Borneo

Early in the morning, we walked to Fook Yuen ( 富源茶餐室 ) for breakfast. It was supposed to be only a 15 mins walk from our hotel, but our "tour guide" remembered wrongly and we walked for almost half an hour.

The food they sell are just normal actually.. They have fried rice, fried mihun, dimsum and pastries. Carrie recommended us Roti Kahwin. It's called 'Kahwin" because they mix butter and kaya tegether.
I've never heard about it, so I decided to give it a try . Turns out, its only butter and kaya on toast bread. We have it everywhere in KL shops. Carrie loved it because they dun have it in Sarawak >.<

After breakfast, the Uncle fetched us all to Jesselton Point. There were a few counters that sold boat tickets and water games. Since there were 13 of us, we hired a boat just for us and bought water games.

After buying and paying for everything, we got our life jackets and snorkeling sets.

The boat ride to and fro from Manukan Island cost RM 18.60 each, around RM 240 for a boat.

The snorkeling set costs RM 10, along with the goggles and breathing pipe.

Banana boat, RM 20 each. Parachuting, RM 60 each. Flying fish, RM 40 each.

In the end, they said that the float for the flying fish was damaged, and we could only do parachuting and banana boat.

The boat ride from Jesselton Point to Manukan took around 15 mins. The ride was kinda scary. It was speeding soooo fast I was afraid we were gonna flip!!

After we settled down, we started playing the water games. I only joined the banana boat. Parachuting was too scary! Imagine being high up in the sky, where there's no one to save you, or any safety equipment to hold you in place. Just let the wind blow, and you float according to the wind direction. HUGE NO NO for me!!!

The boat only fetched those who are playing. They went in the boat to the middle of the sea, and started their games.

Those who didn't play, had to stay on the shore and look after everyone's stuff.

It was scary for me.
However, dar went >.<

After they're done with parachuting, some guy offered to bring us for Flying Fish. It cost around RM 60. I did not went for it cos I think it's too overpriced. Just for that 5 mins ride?? Every second counts.

When we were on the ride, the guy kept asking us whether we wanted to terbalik (flip over) anot. Me and dar, both the scaredy-cats, shouted no. The others in front of us kept yelling yes!

In the end, we just flipped over without any signals. When we fell into the water, I thought I was going to drown and die! Water rushed into my nose. But after awhile, the life jacket saved me and we were floating, and we waited for the boat to turn back to get us.

After we were done with all the games, we went back to the island for snorkeling. It was quite a disappointment. I snorkeled once when I was in Redang Island. It weren't as pretty as Redang. The water was cloudy, and there were very little fishes only. No corals at all.

We were kinda rushing and didn't have much time to snorkel and swim around. We went back to KK around 2pm cos we already booked the boat. Once ashore, we had to walk back to the hotel cos we were dripping wet, and didn't want to dirty the Uncle's van.
